This “denim” bag from Bottega Veneta caught my eye recently — I love the black and navy woven together!

This would be a great bridge piece if you often wear both black and navy, but I also love that there's a certain IYKYK quality to it, where it might just look all black in certain lights or just dark blue in others.

The bag is (gulp) $5500 at Neiman Marcus, but there are a number of pieces with the same color scheme, including a card case that is merely $390.

I am absolutely smitten with this sweet mock-neck sweater from Anthropologie. (The brand calls this colorway “rose,” but it looks more like a poppy to me?)

My office leans on the more casual end of the business casual spectrum, so I would wear this to work with some slimmer-cut pants and a pair of loafers. If you’re on the more formal end of the spectrum, I would zhuzh it up by tucking it into a high-waisted skirt and adding some great shoes. 

The sweater is $98 at Anthropologie and comes in plus sizes 1X-3X, petite sizes XS-XL, and standard sizes XXS-XL. It also comes in seven other colorways, but sadly, not all colors are available in the non-standard sizes.

For busy working women, the suit is often the easiest outfit to throw on in the morning. In general, this feature is not about interview suits for women, which should be as classic and basic as you get — instead, this feature is about the slightly different suit that is fashionable, yet professional. Also: we just updated our big roundup for the best women's suits of 2024!

This suit feels very casual, but fun, particularly with the matching cropped flares. (It also comes with a longer A-line skirt, a vest, and a basic sheath (with pockets!).

The fabric is a “stretch tweed,” made from 67% viscose, 31% polyester, and 2% Elastane. All of the pieces are machine washable (but line dry).

I think it's really interesting how the different matching pieces change the vibe of the suit — the A-line midi skirt feels very Grown Up in the Room, whereas when the jacket is styled with the vest and jeans, it feels much more Cool Girl.

The jacket is $345, available in sizes 00-20; the matching pieces are $195-$295.

Looking for burgundy, wine or purple suits for women? This Boss suit in a purple “mulberry” looks lovely, as does this Reiss suit in berry, and M.M.LaFleur has a lot of “wine” options, as well as this pretty stretch tweed in lavender. On the more affordable side, this reader favorite suit under $75 is a winey red. For plus sizes, Estelle has a pretty suit in “ultraviolet.” On the lighter side, Banana Republic has suiting in a violet lavender.

Our daily workwear reports suggest one piece of work-appropriate attire in a range of prices.

We’re at the awkward point in the season when retailers are starting to put out fall items, but the idea of wearing a tweed blazer makes me feel like I’m about to die of heatstroke. I will be using this opportunity, however, to snap up a few short-sleeved sweaters for year-round wear.

This cashmere/silk tee from Tuckernuck can be worn with a flowy skirt this summer, a pair of wide-leg pants this fall, and layered under a blazer in the winter. If pale neutrals aren’t your thing, it also comes in black.

The sweater is $138 at Tuckernuck and comes in sizes XS-XXL.

I had the Maison de Sabré AirTag charms on my list of possible Coffee Break ideas — they're so fun and colorful! But now they have these adorable “Sabremoji” charms, designed to look like different fruits. Love!

The pictured one is supposed to look like an apple, with bold green and red leather. They also offer a strawberry, orange, and cherry — all exclusive to Nordstrom.

These charms are $65; the brand also makes simpler circular AirTag charms in contrasting colors for $59.

Cap sleeves are controversial, but I think these are the perfect length to provide a little coverage without bunching up too uncomfortably under a blazer, and the darting at the waist adds some fantastic shape and texture.

Wear it on a day where you need to feel like the best, most professional version of yourself.
