If the email is going to someone in my firm I don’t usually speak to or going outside the firm, I use “Sincerely.” If I’m asking for something from someone outside my team, I use “Thanks.”

But I usually end my emails with “Thanks”. I guess I end it like this because I want to always be polite when I’m speaking to someone. And we’ve always been taught to say “please” and “Thank You”. But I think that as long as it’s a polite and mature ending, it’s okay.

If a request, thank you. When emailing someone from the community, especially a leader, or one of our funders, I often sign off with “Respectfully” and my signature block.
