I mentioned this product in my roundup of the big Amazon sales last week, but: this is one of my favorite purchases of the last six months or so, and has become my go-to choice for my 1 minute-just-running-errands makeup routine.

(The full just-running-errands makeup routine: sunscreen, this Youthforia liquid blush, this e.l.f. undereye concealer/highlighter, and the featured lip gloss.)

I don't actually know of an American product that compares to this one — it goes on like a liquid, and has an immediate finish like a shine (not sticky but definitely shiny). The shine fades pretty quickly (30 minutes? 60 minutes?) and you're left with a tint and — somehow — moisturized lips. I'd say the tint and moisture lasts three hours, but I haven't clocked it.

Almost all of the colors are like a MLBB tint… very subtle shades.

I had bought the color “Rose in Mind” previously, and bought two more that haven't arrived yet: Mauve Chaos (pictured) and Berry Pretty. I would say that the color Rose in Mind is accurately depicted in the product images.

Peripera is a Korean makeup brand that sells at drugstore prices on Amazon; this one is showing as under $10 for me today.

(You may be wondering how I found such a random thing… I had a Sephora lip gloss, bought on sale, that I loved during the pandemic — they were popularized at the time for not coming off on your mask. When Sephora discontinued it I found that it was a dupe for this type of Korean lip gloss. I've bought similar products from a few different brands, but this Peripera one is my favorite thus far.)

Do you ever find yourself spending way, way too long looking at different color options for lipsticks and glosses — reading reviews, looking at user-submitted pictures, etc. — especially when you definitely do NOT need more lip gloss?

Just me? OK then.

Anyway: a few weeks ago I somehow got sucked into the Amazon page for this Butter Gloss from NYX. I think it was perhaps suggested from something else I bought? People LOVED this gloss, and for under $7, I was definitely down to try it! Which color, though?

People seemed to really like the consistency and moisturizing power of the product, and a LOT of people said great things about the basic, clear gloss. So I considered that as a top layer for some of my more drying, stay-put formulas.

But one color kept coming up in the reviews, over and over: Tiramisu. Amazon described this as a “brown,” and I normally pass those up — I spent way too much time in the 90s wearing browns that did not suit me at all. But in every reviewer-submitted photo, it looked like a beautiful pinkish mauve.

As I often do, I put it in my cart but waited to pull the trigger — the next time I ordered from Amazon, I decided no, I really did NOT need a new lip gloss, so I moved it to the “Save for Later” section, where it sat for weeks and weeks.

Cut to yesterday, when I was trying to get my cart to $35 to get an ASAP delivery on something, and I decided, HEY, this lip gloss is the perfect price to add. So I did, and it arrived super quickly, along with the thing I actually needed.

Looooong story short, the NYX butter gloss really does live up to the hype — and the Tiramisu color is perfect. On me it's a pale pink, not quite as dark as the swatch shown here but definitely in the same family — no brown detected.

(Some of the pictures on Amazon, like the collage of three women wearing the product, look way more rosy saturated PINK than how it looks on me — and I have very pale skin, with relatively pale lips, so I feel like the base color of lipstick shines through a lot more than it might on other people with darker lips.)

The end result is a shiny gloss, but not one that's overly sticky — I wouldn't be worried about wearing it with long hair on a windy day. It feels moisturizing, not drying… and I already think it's going to be one of my favorite colors.

I noticed some people on the Weekend Open Thread were wondering about a Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm dupe, and I thought, oh, I should mention this lip balm I got in Koreatown. But then I couldn't find it, and then by the time I did, the weekend was over.

ANYHOO: I had some time to kill recently while meeting a friend for lunch so I spent far too long in a little K-beauty makeup store — so much swatching! This one caught my eye near the end of my visit, and it was a bit on the pricey side for K-beauty ($20), but I liked the formula so much I spent a bit of time figuring out which color I liked best.

(Honestly, all of the colors were great. Not Pomelo because I'm not an orange girl, but I was stuck between a few different ones.)

I ended up with Dew Drop, which I see is their most popular color, and, after someone asked about it on the Weekend Open Thread, it occurred to me that this is a great Dior Addict Lip Glow Balm dupe. The formulas are very similar: a thick, moisturizing balm that isn't sticky and lasts for a few hours. The color is very much MLBB, but buildable — for me one swipe of this one has more color payoff than the Dior Addict Lip Glow one, but only slightly.

Like I said, it's a bit on the pricey side compared to other K-beauty things (I got a lot of other fun lipglosses for around $10 each), but compared to the $40 price point for Dior, it's not so bad.

In one of those “TikTok made me do it” moments, I bought this “hurry or it'll sell out!” limited edition lip balm from Tarte… and I'm actually glad I did because I really like it, especially as a my-lips-but-better kind of lip balm.

It's one of those lip balms that's hard to mess up, but for your first time application you'll probably need less balm than you think. I actually only put it on about 1/4 of my lips, then smack my lips to spread the product around. It does have a relatively strong coconut scent, which I don't mind, but it's worth mentioning.

Compared to some of the other MLBB products we've reviewed over the years, this is among my favorites. The color is perfect, it isn't sticky or drying, and you barely need to look when you swipe it on. (I'd say there's just a touch more slip than either Clinique's Black Honey or the Dior Addict lip balm that the readers have loved for years — it's also a bit shinier than either on the lips.)

I believe the different stores have different colors – you can get it at Sephora and Ulta for $21 (my color, raspberry, came from Ulta, and on me it is literally just a shade or two darker than my lips, definitely not a “deep red berry” as described on the Ulta site.

There are a lot of good sales on beauty at Nordstrom right now, including lipsticks from MAC, YSL, Dior, Bobbi Brown, and Clinique. (And lots of T3 products marked down 15-33%.)

In fact, my beloved Clinique Chubby Lip Balm Sticks are down to $15 again — I bought four the last time they went to this price! I'm really happy with all of the colors: Graped Up (I've bought that color at least 10x), Voluptuous Violet (lovely and subtle, not crazy at all), and Lot of Honey (very muted). (Here's our last discussion on all of my beauty empties and the things I keep rebuying!)

I think they're a great price for a reliable tinted balm that is moisturizing, easy to apply and wear, and has a very buildable color. (And I've tried a lot of tinted lip balms looking for that!)
