I am absolutely smitten with this sweet mock-neck sweater from Anthropologie. (The brand calls this colorway “rose,” but it looks more like a poppy to me?)

My office leans on the more casual end of the business casual spectrum, so I would wear this to work with some slimmer-cut pants and a pair of loafers. If you’re on the more formal end of the spectrum, I would zhuzh it up by tucking it into a high-waisted skirt and adding some great shoes. 

The sweater is $98 at Anthropologie and comes in plus sizes 1X-3X, petite sizes XS-XL, and standard sizes XXS-XL. It also comes in seven other colorways, but sadly, not all colors are available in the non-standard sizes.

We’re at the awkward point in the season when retailers are starting to put out fall items, but the idea of wearing a tweed blazer makes me feel like I’m about to die of heatstroke. I will be using this opportunity, however, to snap up a few short-sleeved sweaters for year-round wear.

This cashmere/silk tee from Tuckernuck can be worn with a flowy skirt this summer, a pair of wide-leg pants this fall, and layered under a blazer in the winter. If pale neutrals aren’t your thing, it also comes in black.

The sweater is $138 at Tuckernuck and comes in sizes XS-XXL.

Sometimes you just need a power dress, and this sheath from Reiss is just the ticket. Cap sleeves are controversial, but I think these are the perfect length to provide a little coverage without bunching up too uncomfortably under a blazer, and the darting at the waist adds some fantastic shape and texture.

Wear it on a day where you need to feel like the best, most professional version of yourself.

At a sample sale many years ago, I passed on a skirt very similar to this one, and it haunts me to this day. A $1K+ skirt isn’t really in my budget at the moment, but if it were, I’d be pulling the trigger on this high-waisted number from Akris.

After a decade of regret about The Skirt That Got Away, I would wear this every season — with a tucked-in oxford in the summer or with a black turtleneck and booties in the winter. 

The skirt is $1,190 at Neiman Marcus and comes in sizes 2-16. 

On the more casual side, but much more affordable (and very summery), is this green skirt from Boden for $120 (petite, regular, and long sizes, up to 20/22).

This striped midi skirt looks so summery that it makes me want to drink a glass of lemonade on a patio. I love that it comes in both regular and petite sizes. (I’m not usually a petite, but with midi skirts, I sometimes find the petite lengths more flattering.)

Wear this with a short-sleeved sweater and some flats for a perfect business casual look or with a tank top and sandals for the weekend.

I see that Torrid has named this the “vacation dress,” but it looks like a fantastic business casual outfit to me! The reviews and accompanying photos suggest that it’s definitely opaque enough for officewear.

Add a more substantial belt and some fantastic shoes and you’ve got a gorgeous, breezy dress to get through the hottest days of summer. 

The dress is $79.90 full price — but 35% off with code — and comes in Torrid sizes 00-6, which are roughly equivalent to 10-30.
